Client: Endress+Hauser
Project: Flowtec Addition & Renovation
Budget: $1,800,000.00
Completed: March 2013
Details: Flowtec is a company within the international Endress+Hauser group and is one of the leading manufacturers of modern flow meters. In 25 years this company has established itself as one of the top companies for industrial flow measurement technology. Due to their success, Flowtec, needed a 90,000 square foot manufacturing and office addition. We were awarded the contract for power, lighting, lighting controls, backup generator, fire alarm, sound, access control, voice, data, and temperature control wiring. We also worked with both the owner and engineer on value engineering options that were accepted and therefore saving the owner significantly in construction costs. Upon being awarded this LEED designed project, we formed a team consisting of a 25 year project foreman to lead the electrical installation and low-voltage, systems and control wiring team led by a 30 year foreman. These experienced foremen, along with a dedicated workforce behind them, were able to stay on, or ahead, of the aggressive 9 month schedule we were faced with.
This $1.8 million project was kept on schedule by breaking down each system into individual projects. One crew was in charge of the main distribution equipment consisting of a new 3000 amp, 480 volt services. This electrical equipment distributes power to multiple runs of bus duct throughout the facility. Another crew’s responsibility was the branch circuit installation for lighting and power in the office and manufacturing areas. The third crew was the System crew that installed all cable tray, system cabling and devices, as well as the commissioning of each system. The final crew was responsible for finish products such as wiring devices and lighting. This allowed the crews to stay ahead of schedule and provide the quality control required on this size project.
